Natalie Della Selva
My work is playful, textured, and easy fitting. I create clothing that invites the wearer to return to childhood memories of puddle jumping, scraped knees, and riding bikes with the neighborhood kids. My love of fiber art and textiles shows up in my use of up-cycling, and natural dye.
During the design process, use and utility are my starting points, I consider how the garment serves the wearer; what size and shape of pockets, bindings, plackets, or details will assist movement and activity. Durability is also considered when selecting fabrics and construction elements. My goal is to create garments that invoke memories of connection and care, and seek to create new moments of community as well, by using adjustable features that allow for sharing and the passing down of garments.
